Abstract
In order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of village development planning, the village government is expected to focus on the potential of the leading sectors/sub-sectors in the area. This is because sectors that have advantages have better prospects for development and are expected to encourage other sectors to develop. The superior products of rural areas are expected to become the village economy, considering the wealth of natural resources owned and then processed into products to get higher added value, so as to create a strong and competitive industry that is able to encourage village economic growth, create jobs, help increase people's incomes and reduce poverty. According to Hidayah (2010), superior commodities are mainstay commodities that have a strategic position to be developed in an area. This strategic position is based on technical considerations (soil and climatic conditions), socio-economic and institutional. This is the background for the author to identify a strategy for developing UMKM shuttlecock products in improving the community's approach to managing and producing shuttlecocks.
The purpose of this study was to see and find out about the home industry UMKM product development strategy about shuttlecocks in Tirtomoyo Village, Pakis District, Malang Regency and to find out the supporting and inhibiting factors in developing UMKM products for the shuttlecock home industry in Tirtomoyo Village, Pakis District, Malang Regency.
The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation and documentation.
The results of the research are related to the UMKM home industry Shuttlecock development strategy in Tirtomoyo Village, Pakis District, Malang Regency, especially in product development strategies. The products produced by the shutllecock home industry are ordinary and premium. For product development strategies to create creativity and innovation, product differentiation development strategies make products diverse as is done in the home industry shuttecock, cost/price advantage development strategies, by adjusting premium quality by providing discounts and promotional prices to consumers as well as commissions to workers and promotion development strategies by conducting promotions through social media such as: whatsapp, Instagram, shoppe, and tokopedia. The supporting and inhibiting factors in the development of the supporting UMKM home industry shuttlecock products are adequate human resources and light business capital, while the inhibiting factors include the lack of main raw materials for the manufacture of shuttlecock products, and they are still imported from China, thus hampering the shuttlecock manufacturing process in the home industry UMKM.
