Abstract

This research aims to determine whether there is a relationship between permissive parenting styles and emotional maturity in adolescents in Malang City. The research method used was quantitative correlational by measuring the scale of permissive parenting and emotional maturity. The subjects in this research were 100 teenagers in Malang City, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used were the permissive parenting style scale (α=0.822) and the emotional maturity scale (α=0.946). The data analysis technique uses a simple linear regression test. The results of the research data categorization show that permissive parenting and emotional maturity are in the medium category. The results of simple regression analysis show a significance value of 0.023, which shows that there is a significant relationship between permissive parenting and emotional maturity in adolescents. The direction of the relationship between the two variables is negative, meaning that the higher the permissive parenting style provided by parents, the lower the emotional maturity of teenagers in Malang City and vice versa. This research can provide information that the type of parenting provided by parents to teenagers can have an impact on the emotional maturity of teenagers, so parents need to provide good parenting for teenagers' emotional growth.
