Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of self-concept on consumptive behavior in students in the city of Malang. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method. The sampling technique used accidental sampling with 100 students. The data collection method uses a self-concept scale adapted from Linggi (2022) and a consumptive behavior scale adapted from Handayani (2022). Data analysis uses simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS for windows v.21 statistics software. The results of the hypothesis test through simple linear regression analysis showed a significance result of 0.001 < 0.05 which means that there is a very significant influence of self-concept on consumptive behavior in students in Malang City with an effective contribution of 10.1% and the remaining 89.9% influenced by other factors. The direction of the relationship between the two variables is negative, meaning that the higher the self-concept, the lower the student's consumptive behavior and vice versa
