Abstract
The author's background in conducting research is starting from every organization or agency in carrying out programs that are directed to always be efficient to achieve agency goals. Performance problems are certainly inseparable from the motivation of the leader of an organization and the process of results and usability, in this case work performance or achievement is the result of work in quality and quantity achieved by an employee in carrying out his duties in accordance with the responsibilities given to him. To create high performance, it is necessary to increase optimal work and be able to utilize the potential of human resources owned by employees in the Customs and Excise Service Office of the Middle Type Malang in order to create agency goals, so that it will make a positive contribution to agency development. In addition, agencies need to pay attention to various factors that can affect employee performance such as leadership, motivation and compensation. The research that the researchers did here was to use a quantitative approach. This research was conducted by the researchers at the Customs and Excise Service Office of the Middle Type of Customs and Excise Malang. In collecting the required data, researchers used several methods including questionnaires. While in the discussion used the SPSS application. From the results of research conducted by researchers at the Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office of the Middle Type, it can be concluded that: the test results show that the variables of leadership and motivation affect employee performance. So to improve the performance of company or organization employees must first increase the value of leadership as a mentor and motivator, in the test. The results of the coefficient test reveal that the leadership variable is the dominant variable and influences employee performance so that it can be concluded that leadership is a more significant variable in influencing employee performance because leadership is a very important variable for companies or organizations.
