Abstract

This research was conducted at PT. PELNI Surabaya branch. The purpose of this studywas to examine and analyze the effect of leadership style and work motivation on employee performance at PT. PELNI Surabaya.
The variables used are Leadership Style (X1) and Work Motivation (X2) as independent variables while the Employee Performance variable (Y) is the dependent variable. The population in this study are employees of PT. PELNI Surabaya, totaling 50 employees, andthe sample used by all employees of PT. PELNI Surabaya, totaling 50 respondents.
The hypothesis put forward in this study is that leadership style and work motivation have a significant effect on the performance of employees of PT. PELNI Surabaya.
Data collection techniques in this study used a questionnaire to obtain primary andsecondary data. As well as the data analysis techniques used include descriptive statistical testing, classical assumption tests, multiple linear tests, hypothesis testing, and thecoefficient of determination test (R2).
The results of the research based on showing hypothesis testing using the T test that the independent leadership style and work motivation (X) variables have a positive and significant effect on the dependent variable of employee performance (Y). and the resultsof the F test all variables of independent leadership style and work motivation (X) have asignificant effect on the dependent variable of employee performance (Y). with an adjustedR square value of 0.895, which can mean that the ability or influence of the variableLeadership Style and Work Motivation (X) on employee performance variable (Y) is 89.5%while the remaining 10.5% is influenced by other variables outside the variables studied.
