Abstract
There are so many problems with traffic and there are several aspects that are related to each other. Vehicles that are stopped or parked, can cause such an important problem. The habit of parking on the shoulder of the road will affect the movement of vehicles that have a high intensity to be hampered. To minimize the obstacles that occur, observations are made and then researched to produce solutions. Observations were made for two months every Saturday, Sunday, and Monday then the highest traffic intensity was obtained on February 6, February 7, and February 8. There are two types of methods used in this research, namely descriptive methods and quantitative methods. Descriptive method is a research that is intended to collect information about the status of a symptom that exists according to what it was at the time the research was conducted (Effendi and Singarimbun, 1989:4). While the quantitative method is a research method that looks at reality/symptoms/phenomena that can be classified, relatively fixed, concrete, observable, measurable, and the relationship between symptoms is causal.
The results showed that on Saturday, February 6, the degree of saturation (DJ) of traffic leaving the Gadang Main Market was 0,352. On Sunday, February 7, the degree of saturation (DJ) of traffic leaving the Gadang Main Market was 0,370. On Monday, February 8, the degree of traffic saturation (DJ) leaving the Gadang Main Market was 0,361. The parking volume on Saturday 6 February is 723, the parking volume on Saturday 7 February is 647, and the parking volumeon Monday 8 February is 495.
