Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the role of democratic parenting on emotional intelligence among middle adolescents in Malang City. This research uses a correlational quantitative method with a sample size of 100 respondents. Determination of sampling using accidental sampling technique. The measuring instruments used are the parenting style scale (α=0.905) and the emotional intelligence scale (α=0.878). The data analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The results of data analysis show that the regression coefficient (F) value is 39.00 (p=0.01) <0.05, with a contribution of 28% (R2=0.28). Based on these results, it can be concluded democratic parenting has a role in emotional intelligence of 28%. This research provides insight that democratic parenting has a role in the emotional intelligence of middle adolescents.
