Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and work stress in employees. This research method uses quantitative correlation, with 192 respondents. Sampling determination using accidental sampling technique. The measuring instrument used is the berlin social scale (α = 807) and the job stress scale (α = 0.714). Statistical analysis used in this study uses simple linear regression which shows social support contributes 35.3% (R2=0.353). Based on the data analysis conducted, it can be seen that there is a significant negative relationship between social support and job stress in employees (β = -0.252, p = 0.000). The results of this study indicate that the higher the social support received by employees, the lower the level of work stress felt by employees. Thus employees with high job stress can be overcome by social support that can provide motivation, a sense of comfort, and emotional and practical assistance so as to reduce the pressure felt, improve psychological well-being, and help employees to remain productive in facing work challenges.
