Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the school environment on students' interest in learning. The research method used was quantitative correlation with 186 students as respondents. Determination of sampling using Purposive Sampling with the Slovin Formula. The measuring instruments used were the scale of interest in learning (α = 0.878) and the scale of the school environment (α = 0.919). The hypothesis test data analysis technique used a simple regression test. The results of the hypothesis test showed a p value = 0.00 <0.05 and a correlation coefficient value of 0.72%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive influence between the school environment and students' interest in learning. This study can provide information that the school environment can predict the high and low interest in learning in students, so it is necessary to improve the school environment by establishing a Literacy Corner in each class or strategic area of the school (for example near the park or corridor) to increase knowledge and good habits that can foster interest in learning for students.
