Abstract

The future is a period in the life of fresh graduates. Fresh graduates may experience various disturbances that affect their psychological well-being. Psychological well-being is a term that describes mental health. The period of being a fresh graduate is seen as a phase that induces stress, doubt, anxiety, panic, and helplessness. This study uses a quantitative method. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between optimism and psychological well-being among fresh graduates in Malang city. This research approach is correlational. The population of the study consists of fresh graduates from Malang city. The sample in this study includes a minimum of 97 respondents with a snowball sampling technique. The results of the research provide regression test data, where the optimism variable has a significant positive effect on the psychological well-being variable. Β = 0.759, t(df) = 11.587, p <0.05. A positive relationship means that as the level of optimism increases, psychological well-being will improve, and vice versa. The optimism variable can explain 57% of the influence, R² = 0.576, F(df) = 134.259, p < 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis stating that the optimism variable positively influences the psychological well-being variable can be accepted. Based on the information and findings, it can be concluded that optimism is significantly and positively related to the psychological well-being of fresh graduates in Malang city.
