Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on academic procrastination among final-year university students who are currently working on their thesis in Malang City. The research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 100 students selected through accidental and snowball sampling techniques. The instruments used were the academic procrastination scale (α = 0.867) and the self-efficacy scale (α = 0.829). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression, which showed that self-efficacy significantly influenced academic procrastination, with a regression coefficient of β = -0.945, p < 0.05. This indicates that higher self-efficacy is associated with lower levels of academic procrastination. The contribution of self-efficacy to academic procrastination was 41% (R² = 0.41). The results conclude that selfefficacy plays a crucial role in reducing academic procrastination behavior. By enhancing self-confidence through mastery experiences, social support, and emotional regulation, students can decrease their tendency to delay thesis writing. This strategy is also expected to improve academic performance and psychological well-being.
