Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between social media addiction tendencies and loneliness in late adolescents. The method used was a quantitative correlational approach with simple linear regression analysis. A total of 400 late adolescents participated in the study through accidental sampling and completed an online questionnaire. Instruments used included the loneliness scale based on aspects by Perlman and Peplau (1982), and the social media addiction scale based on Sahin (2018). The analysis revealed a significant relationship between social media addiction tendency and loneliness, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0,05 and a contribution of 51,9%. These findings indicate that the higher an individual's tendency toward social media addiction, the higher their level of loneliness. This result is expected to serve as a foundation for preventive efforts in promoting healthy social media use among adolescents.
