Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of self-confidence and anxiety in students, especially final year students. This research method uses a qualitative correlational approach with a total of 161 respondents. Determination of sampling using quota sampling. The measuring instruments used are the self-confidence scale (α = 0.829) and the academic anxiety scale (α = 0.929). The data analysis technique uses a simple linear regression test. The results of the data analysis show that self-confidence provides an effective contribution of 9.5% R ^ 2 = 0.095 with a correlation coefficient value of 16.617 0,000 < 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that self-confidence and academic anxiety have a significant negative correlation. This finding differs from the hypothesis that there is a significant positive correlation between self-confidence and academic anxiety. Consequently, final-year students writing their theses are expected to engage in positive activities and shift negative thinking to positive ones to prevent academic anxiety from arising and becoming a personal problem.
