Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support and students’ learning motivation at SMA Shalahuddin Malang in the 2024/2025 academic year. Utilizing a quantitative correlational approach, the research involved the entire population of active students (N = 65) through a saturated sampling technique. The instruments used were the family support scale (α = 0.972) and the learning motivation scale (α = 0.963). Analysis using the non-parametric Spearman’s rho test revealed a correlation coefficient of 0.854 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.01), indicating a very strong and positive relationship between family support and learning motivation. The findings suggest that emotional, informational, and instrumental support from families significantly contributes to students' learning motivation. Although discrepancies exist between these findings and initial observational data, such differences can be explained by the methodological approaches used. This study provides important implications for parents and schools to develop collaborative strategies to enhance students’ motivation to learn. The limitations of this study include the non-normal distribution of data and differences in approaches between the initial survey and the research instruments.
