Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and phubbing behavior in college students. This research method used a quantitative research design with a correlational approach, with 100 respondents. The sample was selected using a non-probability sampling technique with accidental sampling. The measurement instruments used were the self-esteem scale (a = 0.973) and the phubbing behavior scale (a = 0.904). Simple linear regression was used for data analysis. The results of showed a regression coefficient B = -0.760 with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05 an R-value of 0.694. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and phubbing behavior in college students. This study indicates that the higher the self-esteem, the lower the phubbing behavior in college students, and conversely, the lower the self-esteem, the higher the phubbing behavior in college students.
