Abstract

NCT photocard collectors are among fans who often exhibit consumptive behavior. Individuals in early adulthood frequently struggle to control their shopping impulses, particularly when the activity is influenced by emotional and social factors. Consumptive behavior is influenced by various factors, one of which is selfcontrol. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior among NCT photocard collectors in Malang City. The method used was quantitative correlational, with 100 participants aged 18–25 years selected through snowball sampling. The instruments used were the selfcontrol scale and the consumptive behavior scale. The reliability coefficients in this study were 0.963 for consumptive behavior and 0.892 for self-control. Hypothesis testing using Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation showed a significant negative relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior (r = -0.202; p < 0.05). The lower the self-control, the higher the tendency for consumptive behavior. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening self-control as an effort to reduce consumptive behavior, particularly for collectors who need to be aware of the importance of self-regulation, especially when facing the temptation to purchase photocards.
