Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and self-adjustment in new students at the Faculty of Psychology, Merdeka University, Malang. This study used a quantitative correlational method, with 124 respondents from the 2024/2025 school year at the Faculty of Psychology, Merdeka University, Malang. The sample determination used a simple random sampling technique. The measuring instruments used were a scale of social support and a scale of self-adjustment in the form of a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used a simple linear regression test. The results of the data analysis showed a significance value of 0.00 (p = 0.00) <0.05 with a positive relationship direction, so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship with a positive direction between social support and self-adjustment in new students at the Faculty of Psychology, Merdeka University, Malang. The R value = 0.518, which means that there is an influence between the social support variable and the self-adjustment variable of 51.8%. This study can provide information that social support can predict the level of self-adjustment in new students. Therefore, it is necessary to increase social support for new students so that they can adapt well, so that they are able to face various challenges in lectures and undergo their lectures well and optimally.
