Abstract

Nomophobia (no-mobile-phone-phobia) is a type of phobia characterized by excessive fear if a person loses or is not close to his smartphone. The psychological impact that smartphone use has on individuals, groups and society in general is related to changes in behaviors and habits before and after using them. This study aims to find out whether or not the relationship of selfactualization with the tendency of nomophobia in students. The population in this study amounted to 7,015 active students at Merdeka University Malang. With a sample of 100 students obtained with the Slovin technique. This research uses stratified random sampling technique. Data collection tools taken on this research are the scale of self-actualization and the scale of nomophobia tendencies. Analysis using pearson product moment correlation with the help of SPSS system for windows v25. The results showed a significance value (p) of 0.335, greater than the alpha value (0.05) and the correlation coefficient value of 0.097. The results showed that there is no relationship between self-actualization and nomophobia tendency in students.
