Abstract

Consumptive behavior is behavior that consumes something just based on desire not need. The progress of globalization affects the pattern of student behavior consumptive. One of the factors for students to behave consumptive is selfconfidence. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there is a relationship between self-confidence and consumptive behavior among students in Malang. The research population was 25.791 students, using engineering accidental sampling involving 100 respondents. The research method used is quantitative withgather the data uses a self-confidence scale and a scale of consumptive
behavior with a scale model likert. Based on the results of hypothesis testing with an index of -0.652 with a significant level of 0.000, it shows that self-confidence significantly influences consumptive behavior with a negative relationship. This means that the higher the student's self-confidence, the lower the consumptive behavior that occurs and vice versa, the lower the student's self-confidence, the
higher the consumptive behavior.
