Abstract

School refusal is a problem that is often experienced by children in school. Children who experience school refusal often show refusal to go to school or even leave school. This can be caused by various factors, such as anxiety, discomfort, and the inability to adapt to the school environment. This study aims to analyze what factors influence school refusal in elementary school children. This research uses quantitative methods with data collection techniques using school refusal factor scale instruments. The number of subjects in this study were 214 elementary school children who were in area 3T of Tasikmalaya Regency. Data analysis carried out included classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression and hypothesis testing. The results showed that school refusal factors which included negative experiences at school, separation anxiety, permissive parenting, academic difficulties, transitional periods, and negative thinking simultaneously influenced school refusal, with the dominant factor being the transition period.
