Abstract
Consumptive behavior is an act of consuming goods and services that is carried out unplanned, excessively, prioritizes desires over needs, and has a tendency to consume things without limits. Being a student is a time where the search for an identity is ongoing. Therefore, something modern in its era is a new need that is almost no less important for students. Following the flow of modernity for them is an expression of feelings that they tend to want to be recognized and accepted in their social environment. Consumptive behavior is influenced by internal, external and psychological processes. Personality, lifestyle, and demographics affect a person's consumptive attitudes and behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there are differences in online shopping consumptive behavior among students in Malang City which are reviewed based on gender The data collection method in this study used the scale method. The population referred to in this study were all students in Malang City, which amounted to 247,027 students. The sample used in this study amounted to 400 subjects consisting of 200 subjects male and 200 female subjects. The researcher used accidental sampling technique. Accidental sampling technique is a sampling technique on population elements that can be found and are willing to provide information related to the data in the study. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it can be seen that there are differences in consumptive behavior between men and women, where women have much higher consumptive behavior than men.
