Abstract
Consumptive behavior in cosmetic products is an individual's behavior to consume or buy goods in the form of cosmetic products in excess, without considering rationally, causing waste , and does not consider the need only to fulfill satisfaction or pleasure and from a psychological point of view, anxiety and insecurity arise. Self-control is seen as one of the factors that can predict the tendency of consumptive behavior in cosmetic products. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control with consumptive behavior in cosmetic products through online shopping in adolescents. The population of this study was 349 young women in Jambuwer Village, Kromengan District, Malang Regency. The sample is 100 teenagers with purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used in this research is the consumer behavior scale on cosmetic products through online shopping with 33 moving coefficient items 0.413-0.777 and self-control scale with 39 moving coefficient items 0.433-0.767. The validity test uses the product moment and the reliability test uses the alpha coefficient formula. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the product moment which resulted in a correlation coefficient of -0.430 with a p value of 0.000 (p <0.05). It means that there is a significant negative relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior in cosmetic products. It is interpreted that the higher the self-control, the lower the consumptive behavior in cosmetic products, and vice versa if the higher the consumptive behavior in cosmetic products, the lower the self-control. Self- control contributed 18.5 to the consumptive behavior of cosmetic products through online shopping.
