Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between celebrity worship and consumptive behavior in adolescent fans of the BTS boyband who are domiciled in Batam, Riau Islands. The research conducted is correlational research using data collection techniques in the form of a Likert scale consisting of a celebrity worship scale and a consumptive behavior scale. The population in this study was 150 fans and used purposive sampling as a sampling technique. Researchers took data using the google form application which contained research instruments that were then distributed through social media. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it is known that the correlation index is 0.756 and the significant value is 0.000 (p <0.05). This states that there is a positive relationship between celebrity worship and consumptive behavior in teenage fans of the BTS boyband. The higher the celebrity worship, the higher the occurrence of consumptive behavior in adolescents is accepted.
