Abstract

This study aims to find out how the teacher's attitude towards class VIII students who experience learning loss at SMP Dharma Wanita 09 Kromengan, and what factors are behind the emergence of this attitude. The method used in this research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data collection, conducted by interview, observation and documentation study were conducted on 3 research subjects. The research subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique, with the criteria of teachers at SMP Dharma Wanita 09 Kromengan, who taught in class VIII. Test the validity of the data used is the method of technical triangulation. Attitude consists of three constituent components, namely the cognitive component (perception), the affective component (feelings), and the conative component (action). The results of this study indicate that the three subjects have a positive attitude towards class VIII students, this can be seen from the efforts made by the subject to try to overcome student behavior, feelings of pleasure during teaching, as well as perceptions of students who despite having low motivation and responsibility to learn, can be changed for the better. The factors behind the emergence of attitudes in each subject are different, Subject 1 is motivated by the motivation to teach as worship. Subject 2 is caused by the belief that teaching is his potential. And subject 3 is motivated by the closeness and good relationship between teachers and students.
