Abstract

Spaylater is a feature in shopee e-commerce which is currently used by many consumers in purchasing activities, one of which is dominated by students to fulfill their wishes. So that the use of spaylater can result in individuals becoming wasteful, and tending to behave consumptively. The high level of consumptive behavior is thought to be due to the presence of a negative self-concept in an individual. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self-concept and consumptive behavior in spaylater user students in Malang City. This research is a quantitative research using correlational research methods. The research instruments used are the self-concept scale and the consumptive behavior scale. The number of subjects in this study was 272 students who used spaylater in Malang City using the purposive sampling method. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between self-concept and consumptive behavior (r = -0.706 ; p = 0.000). This means that the more negative his self-concept, the higher the consumptive behavior of spaylater-user students in Malang City.
