Abstract

Bullying in schools is a serious international issue for students. High levels of bullying are predicted by moral reasoning; the lower the moral reasoning, the higher the bullying behavior. This study aims to examine the influence of moral reasoning on the tendency for bullying behavior among middle school students in Malang City. This research uses a quantitative method, with data collected through a psychological scale using a Likert scale model, based on aspects of moral reasoning and bullying behavior using the Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument (APRI). The respondents in this study were 350 middle school students in Malang City, selected through cluster sampling. The data were analyzed using a simple linear regression test. The analysis results showed F = 61.280 with a significance level of 0.000 and a correlation value of -0.113, proving a significant negative influence between moral reasoning and the tendency for bullying behavior. This means that the higher the moral reasoning, the lower the bullying behavior, and vice versa. Moral reasoning contributes to bullying behavior by R² = 0.150, indicating that the influence of moral reasoning on bullying behavior is 15%, with the remaining 85% influenced by other factors
