Abstract
Currently there are many problems that are being faced by several factories in Indonesia. One of the problems is the low discipline which can be seen from the still high number of late employees entering the office, there are even some employees who are absent without clear explanations. Not only that, the work environment is also an important issue in improving the performance of factory employees. This research was conducted at the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory. The location of the Kebon Agung sugar factory is located in Kebon Agung Village, Pakis Aji District, Malang Regency. This study aims to determine the effect of discipline and work environment on the performance of employees at the Kebon Agung Malang sugar factory. The use of this research is expected to be a reference material in determining policies and considerations in evaluating the work processes of employees of the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory.
In this study, the population used was all permanent employees of the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory, totaling 255 people. However, the number of samples taken was only 72 samples. The data source used in this study is primary data in the form of a questionnaire. The data collection technique in this analysis is a questionnaire in which respondents will give a score with a Likert scale. The analytical method in this study was a statistical test using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).
Based on the results obtained in this study it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between work discipline on the performance of employees of the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory. There is a significant influence between the work environment on the performance of the employees of the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory. There is a significant influence between work discipline and work environment collectively on the performance of the employees of the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory. The work environment factor is a factor that is more dominant in influencing employee performance than the work discipline factor for employees of the Kebon Agung Malang Sugar Factory.
