Abstract

This research aims to analyze student perceptions of the use of ChatGPT in preparing theses and analyze student perceptions of the effectiveness of ChatGPT in facilitating the thesis preparation process. This research uses a mix method type of research. The population of this research was 192 students consisting of Accounting, Public Administration, Civil Engineering and Development Economics majors in the 2017-2019 class. The research sample consisted of 70 students with the criteria for students who used ChatGPT in preparing their thesis. Data collection techniques use documentation and questionnaires. The results of the research show that students' perceptions of the use of ChatGPT in preparing their thesis obtained a percentage score of 89.6% or in the "Very Good" category. Likewise, the effectiveness of ChatGPT in facilitating the thesis preparation process was 95% in the "very good" category, while the lowest statement was the statement "I used ChatGPT as additional information for my thesis" at 71% in the "good" category.
