Abstract
Merauke City is located at an altitude of 0 - 60 meters above sea level, making Merauke City included in a fairly flat lowland area. This is one of the factors that Merauke City often floods when it has entered the rainy season. This research aims to identify the causes of inundation and flooding by calculating the capacity of drainage channels, calculating the channel plan discharge with a 10-year return period in the Bambu Pemali Village area of Merauke City, and making alternative solutions to the problem of inundation and flooding in the area. This research method uses a descriptive quantitative method, which is a method of calculating and describing the results of field data processing that has been obtained from the research location. Data and information collection is obtained through surveys at the research location, and visiting places or institutions related to the research. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the causes of flooding and inundation that occur are caused by high rainfall, sea tides, and the poor drainage network system due to garbage and grass that block the flow of water, siltation of channels, and damaged floodgates in the area. Alternative solutions to handling inundation and flooding that can be done in the Bambu Pemali Village area are by repairing, maintaining, and cleaning drainage channels so that cooperation between the government and the public is needed to further increase awareness to care for the surrounding environment.
