Abstract

An example of an intersection that is at the same level as a railway track in Malang City is WR Supratman Street. Djaelani (2014) stated that this level crossing can cause delays and lengthen vehicle queues. Therefore, an analysis is needed on this road section. The aim of this research is to determine the extent of delays and queues caused by the closure of the railway crossing and the level of service on WR Supratman Street. To obtain sufficient data variations, data collection was conducted over 3 days, namely Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, from 06:00 to 21:00. Delay and queue calculations were done using the shockwave method, while the road's level of service was analyzed using the Indonesian Manual Capacity Road 1997. Based on the calculation results, for the west-east direction, the peak queue and delay occurred on Wednesday, during the period of 6:31:41 - 16:35:55, with a length of 219 meters and a total delay of 29.92 passenger car equivalent , and an average delay of 91.61 seconds. For the east-west direction, the maximum queue and delay occurred during the period of 16:31:41 - 16:35:55, with a length of 140 meters and a total delay of 18.601 passenger car equivalent, and an average delay of 82.38 seconds. Meanwhile, the level of service on WR Supratman Street during the peak traffic hour, from 16:00 to 17:00, was categorized as level A, indicating stable traffic flow and low volume. This study recommends collecting data over a longer observation period and the need for further studies by attempting to proceed to other modeling stages in order to better reflect the actual conditions.
