Abstract

Transportation is one of the important elements needed by humans in daily life.The significant role of transportation makes it one thing that is needed primarily inchoosing the mode of transportation. In Malang City, the most important modes oftransportation used by many people are trains and buses. This study aims todetermine the choice of rail or bus transportation modes. This research wasconducted at the Malang City station. This research uses quantitative research.There are two sources of data used, namely primary data and secondary data. Thedata collection method is survey. Data collection techniques consisted of field observations, institutional surveys, questionnaire techniques and literature studies.The number of samples in this study were 140 samples. Data analysis usingbinomial logit model.
The results of this study indicate that the probability value on the train is 0.586 while the probability value on the bus is 0.414. In addition, 20% of people chooseto use the bus mode of transportation. While the remaining 80% chose the rail transportation mode. Based on these results, it is known that the rail mode of transportation is more enjoyed and preferred than the bus mode of transportation.The choice of this mode of transportation is based on considerations of travel costs, comfort and safety.
