Abstract

Bamboo has become an interesting alternative to steel reinforcement in concrete, with tensile strength nearly comparable to that of steel reinforcement. Bamboo also
has weaknesses, so improvements need to be made by adding restraints by tightening the stirrups along the compression path. This study aims to determine the effect of the spacing of bamboo stirrups on the compressive zone on the flexural moment of bamboo-reinforced concrete beams, using test specimens measuring 15 x 15 x 65 cm with concrete quality of 25 Mpa. The variations in spacing used are 40 mm, 60 mm, and 100 mm. Testing was conducted when the concrete was 28 days old based on ASTM C78/C78M. The research results show that the spacing values (40 mm, 60 mm, and 100 mm) have flexural moment values of 1.82 KNm, 1.76 KNm, 1.58 KNm, and without stirrups (normal) 1.52 KN, respectively. This indicates that the smaller or closer the stirrup spacing, the greater the flexural moment of the bamboo-reinforced concrete beam produced.
