Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of liquidity on financial distress, the effect of leverage on financial distress, the moderating effect of sales growth on the relationship between liquidity and financial distress, and the moderating effect of sales growth on the relationship between leverage and financial distress. The sample size for this study is 26 food and beverage companies during the period from 2019 to 2022. The analytical techniques used in this study are logistic analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA).
The analysis results indicate that liquidity has a negative effect on financial distress. Leverage has a positive effect on financial distress. Sales growth can moderate the influence of liquidity on financial distress. Companies with high sales growth will be more capable of meeting their short-term obligations. This is because companies with high sales growth will have higher income, which can be used to fulfill their short-term obligations. Sales growth can moderate the influence of leverage on financial distress. Companies with high sales growth will be more capable of paying both short-term and long-term obligations, as they possess better resources to fulfill their obligations and finance their operations.
