Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the role of the Malang City Class I Penitentiary in the guidance of corrupt convicts using empirical research methods and a sociological juridical approach. It was ascertained that the development of corrupt convicts in Malang City's Class I Penitentiary includes personality or spiritual development,
independence development, and entrepreneurial development. Corrupt prisoners are frequently empowered to assist in the coaching of other inmates during the coaching process. Excess capacity, also known as overload, and a lack of human resources are obstacles to the process of coaching corrupt convicts. As a result, the Class I Penitentiary of Malang City should indeed add officer because the number of inmates and warden officers is imbalanced to ensure that the coaching process goes smoothly. The Class I Penitentiary of Malang City must also
carry out developments in the field of development to ensure that there is enough space for residents to live as prisoners.
