Abstract
The natural and cultural wealth in each region is different. With this natural and cultural wealth, it is used as the main capital to increase the tourism sector as an alternative source of revenue for the country's foreign exchange. If the country's foreign exchange increases, it means that the development budget also increases, with development it can absorb a lot of workers so that it has an impact on increasing people's income. In addition, SMEs will increase.
This study aims to determine the strategy of developing museum tourism studying at the Brawijaya Museum through the focus, namely seeing or measuring the strengthening of managers, determining work programs, promotion and cooperation activities, developing facilities and infrastructure, creating an atmosphere and comfort and security atmosphere, opening up business opportunities, financial management and analyze supporting and inhibiting factors.
This type of research uses qualitative research. The technique of determining the research informants using purposive sampling which became the informants was the Brawijaya Museum Manager (2), cleaning staff (2), security officers (1), parking attendants (2), visitors (4), sellers (3). data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation.
The results of the research on the Strategy for Tourism Development of Museums Studying at the Brawijaya Museum can be seen from the strengthening of managers who are already quite good, promotional activities that have not been running optimally and collaborative activities that have been carried out with various parties but are still considered lacking. In this case the effort to increase the number of visitors is still lacking. The development of facilities and infrastructure is quite satisfactory. The access road to the Brawijaya Museum tour is also very difficult to reach because of its strategic location in the middle of the city.
