Abstract
Nyentana marriage in Tabanan Regency applies matrilineal system which is contradictory with patrilineal in Bali customary law. Generally, the family system in Bali is patrilineal that is the blood line coming from father’s side, but Tabanan Regency applies nyentana marriage as matrilineal system or the blood line from the mother’s side. Both patrilineal and matrilineal influence the legacy system from the parents to the heirs after past marriage. Nyentana system is reflected domination status of a woman in a family. The status of a woman will change to be man or in Bali terminology namely the upgrading status of pradana to be purusa by doing Nyentana marriage. That system has influenced the distribution of legacy including the subject, object, and ordinances which are different from ordinary marriage. The subject in Nyentana marriage is a woman; the object of legacy in Bali customary law is not only including tangible property, but also nontangible property; in the distribution of legacy there are also several problems that occur in society who conducted Nyentana marriage.
