Abstract
Anodizing is a simple electrochemical process that was developed in the 20th century by forming a
protective layer of aluminum oxide on the aluminum surface (ESTAL: 2015). The anodizing process on aluminum is
carried out to improve the mechanical and aesthetic properties of the surface. This process produces a thin, porous
oxide layer that is hard and corrosion resistant. These pores can be used to provide a variety of coloring when filled
with dyes. The anodizing process can be done with chemical dyes or natural dyes. The anodizing staining process can
use a solution of inorganic materials or chemical or organic solutions. Chemical solutions produce waste that can be
harmful to the environment, therefore it is hoped that a breakthrough using a dye solution that does not produce
waste that is harmful to the environment is the use of dyes produced from fruit and vegetable waste such as dragon
fruit peel, and purple cabbage with the addition of ingredients. - environmentally friendly materials for attractive
colors. The purpose of this study is to analyze natural dyes produced from fruit and vegetable waste such as dragon
fruit peel and purple cabbage in the anodizing process of aluminum 6061 through microstructure, test the color
intensity and thickness of the natural dye layer made from vegetable and fruit waste. .
