Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between democratic parenting and emotional maturity in early adolescents. This research method uses a correlational quantitative approach, with 62 respondents. Determination of sampling using purposive sampling technique. The measuring instrument used was the democratic parenting scale (α = 0.936), and the emotional maturity scale (α = 0.894). Data analysis techniques using simple linear regression tests. The results of data analysis showed that democratic parenting made an effective contribution of 42.6% (R2 = 0.426), with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, and a correlation coefficient of 0.653. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between democratic parenting and emotional maturity in early adolescents. This study can provide information that democratic parenting applied by parents to children can predict high and low emotional maturity in early adolescents. Therefore, parents need to pay attention to the parenting style that will be applied in the process of educating children, by starting to apply it since childhood consistently during the process of growth and development of children for good results for their emotional maturity in the futre.
