Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of peer social support on the self-confidence of students at MA Al Hidayah Wajak. The background of the research is the low self- confidence observed among students, such as a lack of courage in expressing opinions and facing academic challenges. The research design used is quantitative with a correlational approach. The study involved 120 students selected using proportional stratified random sampling from a total population of 170 students in grades X and XI. Data collection instruments included peer social support and self-confidence scales, both of which were tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The results indicate a positive and significant influence of peer social support on students' self-confidence (R2 = 0.416; p < 0.05). Thus, the higher the peer social support, the higher the students' self-confidence. These findings highlight the importance of a supportive social environment in fostering adolescent self-confidence. The implication of this study is the significant role of peer social support in enhancing students’ self-confidence. Therefore, the school environment is expected to promote positive interactions among students in order to strengthen their self-confidence.
