Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination among final-year university students who are in the process of completing their undergraduate thesis. Self-efficacy refers to an individual's belief in their ability to execute tasks successfully, while academic procrastination involves the intentional delay of academic responsibilities. Utilizing a quantitative approach, data were collected from 100 final-semester students across various universities in Malang City using a self-efficacy scale and an academic procrastination scale. The results of the simple linear regression analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic procrastination (Bandura, 1997; Monica, 2022). Students with higher self-efficacy tend to engage in less academic procrastination. These findings suggest that enhancing students’ belief in their own abilities may serve as an effective strategy to reduce procrastination behavior, particularly in the context of thesis completion.
