Abstract

The smoking behavior among female employees is increasing, particularly as a coping mechanism for work-related stress. This habit not only affects individual health but also impacts productivity and the work environment. This study aims to examine the effect of work stress on smoking behavior among female employees in Malang City. A quantitative approach was used in this research. The population in this study consisted of female employees in Malang City. The sampling technique applied was accidental sampling, with a total of 100 female employees. Data collection was conducted using a Likert scale, including a work stress scale and a smoking behavior scale. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression analysis. The results of the simple linear regression test showed that work stress had a 56% influence on smoking behavior among female employees in Malang City, while the remaining percentage was influenced by other factors. Stress management in the workplace is crucial in reducing smoking habits among female employees. Interventions such as mental health programs, social support in the workplace, and smoking control policies can be effective measures to reduce smoking behavior.
