Abstract

Hedonistic lifestyle brings pleasure in students' lives so that students forget their main goal, which is studying. Many students tend to live a hedonistic lifestyle. One of the factors that causes a hedonistic lifestyle is self-esteem. Self-esteem is the process by which a person assesses themselves, either negatively or positively. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-esteem and a hedonistic lifestyle in students at the University of Merdeka Malang. This study uses a quantitative approach with the regression method. The respondents of the study were students of the University of Merdeka Malang, a total of 100 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used the accidental sampling technique. The data collection technique in this study used a self-esteem scale with a hedonistic lifestyle. The data analysis technique used the Pearson product moment correlation. From these results, the R squarer coefficient was obtained as much as 0.174 or 17.4% with a significance level of 0.000 <0.05. There is a negative relationship between self-esteem and a hedonistic lifestyle in students at the University of Merdeka Malang.
