Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between gratitude and suicidal ideation among Generation Z in Malang City. This research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The sampling method used is accidental sampling. The measurement tools include an adapted version of the Revised-Suicide Ideation Scale (R-SIS) (α= 0.988) and a gratitude scale (α= 0.627). Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression. The analysis results indicate a coefficient value of -0.831 (p= 0.000) < 0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between gratitude and suicidal ideation among Generation Z in Malang City. The direction of the relationship between the two variables is negative, meaning that higher levels of gratitude in Generation Z are associated with lower levels of suicidal ideation, and conversely, lower levels of gratitude are associated with higher levels of suicidal ideation. This study provides valuable insights, suggesting that gratitude can predict the levels of suicidal ideation among Generation Z. Therefore, efforts to enhance gratitude in this population are necessary.
