Abstract

The family serves as a fundamental foundation in shaping an individual’s psychological development. A supportive and harmonious family environment fosters the growth of resilience. Conversely, individuals from broken homes often face emotional regulation difficulties, limited problem-solving skills, and a lack of social support, increasing their vulnerability in both academic and social spheres. This study explores the development of resilience among university students from broken-home backgrounds who are actively involved in student organizations. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with three participants—one as the primary subject and two others for data triangulation. The findings reveal that resilience is developed through Grotberg’s framework: social support (I Have), personal strength (I Am), and interpersonal skills (I Can), with the strongest source of resilience emerging from inner strength and perseverance (I Am). Organizational involvement provides a meaningful space for students to build self-confidence, strengthen problem-mapping skills, and expand social networks.
