Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and suicidal ideation among Generation Z. The research method used is quantitative correlational, with a total of 400 respondents. The sampling method employed is accidental sampling. The measurement instruments used are the suicidal ideation scale (α = 0.936) and the emotional intelligence scale (α = 0.963). Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression analysis. The results showed a correlation coefficient with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and suicidal ideation among Generation Z. The findings of this study reveal that the higher the level of emotional intelligence, the lower the level of suicidal ideation experienced by Generation Z in Malang City. It is hoped that this research will have an impact on Generation Z, particularly in Malang City, encouraging greater awareness of suicidal ideation cases. Furthermore, it aims to provide insights for parents to help prevent suicidal ideation in their children and to emphasize the importance of developing strong emotional intelligence in Generation Z.
