Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between conformity and consumer behavior among overseas students in Malang City. This research method uses quantitative correlational with a total of 100 respondents. Determination of sampling using the Accidental Sampling technique. The measuring instruments used are the conformity scale (α= 0.896) and the consumer behavior scale (α= 0.944). The data analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The results of data analysis show that the regression coefficient (β) is 0.841 (sig=0.000) <0.05 with a contribution of 70% (R2=0.708). Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior among overseas students in Malang City, and conformity influences consumptive behavior by 70%, the rest is influenced by other factors. This research can provide insight that conformity has a positive relationship with consumptive behavior among overseas students, meaning that the higher the conformity a student has, the higher the student's consumptive behavior, and vice versa. So it is necessary to provide an understanding of self-confidence in the ability to control in facing demands, so that overseas students can manage their finances well.
