Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of loneliness on parasocial interaction of K-Pop fans on social media in Malang City. The research method used is quantitative with snowball sampling data collection technique using a scale distributed to 100 early adult respondents of K-Pop fans who are active social media users aged 18-25 years. The measuring instrument used is the parasocial interaction scale (0.927) and the UCLA scale (0.840) Loneliness Scale version three. The data analysis technique uses simple regression analysis. The results of the data analysis show an R square value of 0.098 with a significance of 0.001 <0.05. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between loneliness on parasocial interaction, loneliness has an effect of 9.8% on parasocial interaction. The direction of the relationship between the two variables is positive, meaning that the higher the loneliness, the higher the parasocial interaction. This study can provide information that loneliness can predict the high and low parasocial interaction of K-Pop fans on social media in Malang City.
