Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of self-control on online gambling behavior among housewives in East Nusa Tenggara. This research method uses a quantitative method with a regression approach, with a total of 120 respondents. Sampling determination uses an accidental sampling technique. The measuring instruments used are a self-control scale (α = 0.857) and an online gambling behavior scale (α = 0.945). The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression conducted with the help of the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program. The results of the data analysis show a regression coefficient
of F = 20.435 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (0.000 < 0.05). The coefficient of determination value of R2 = 0.148, indicating that self-control has a 14.8% influence on online gambling behavior. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a negative role between self-control and online gambling behavior among housewives. This study emphasizes the importance of self-control as a preventive measure in preventing online gambling behavior, especially among
housewives.
