Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-concept and self-confidence in students of SMPIT Insan Permata Malang. This research method uses a quantitative research design with a correlational approach, with 140 respondents. Sampling determination uses probability sampling technique with proportional stratified random sampling method. The measuring instruments used are the self-concept scale (α = 0.814) and the self-confidence scale (α = 0.804). The data analysis technique uses simple linear regression. The results of the data analysis show a regression coefficient value of p = 0.001 <0.05 with an R 2 value of 0.432. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between self-concept and self-confidence in students of SMPIT Insan Permata Malang. Self-concept affects self-confidence by 43.2%, while the rest is influenced by other factors. The implications of the research results lie in efforts to increase students' self-confidence that can be done by students, teachers, or parents by improving self-concept. Students can develop self-concept through positive experiences, such as successfully completing assignments.
