Abstract
This study aims to determine the self regulation of students who engage in academic procrastination. This research method uses a qualitative phenomenological approach, data obtained through interviews with four final semester students. The results show that procrastination is caused by psychological unpreparedness, a perception of loose time, and an unsupportive environment. However, the emergence of regret, encouragement from internal and external factors, and the presence of peer support are triggers in strengthening self-regulation. Strategies used by students to overcome procrastination include small targets, choosing a comfortable learning environment, and limiting social activities. These findings emphasize the importance of self-regulation as an effort to overcome procrastination in writing a thesis.
